The 16-year-old Mirra Andreeva made her pro debut in early 2022, securing an impressive total of 6 titles since then. Her swift ascent to the top is noteworthy, as it was not long ago since she was playing Drottningens Pris in 2020.
Mirra’s 2020 KKDP tournament had a challenging start as she was defeated by Shancie Roighet in three sets in the first round of the singles main draw. However, her journey didn’t conclude there. Alongside her doubles partner, Alina Korneeva, they clinched the doubles title.
Post her Stockholm visit, Mirra continued to compete in junior tournaments until February 2022 when she made her ITF debut on the women’s tour. Since then, she has claimed a total of 6 pro titles.
2023 was the year it really took off for the former KKDP doubles champion. She began the year by reaching the final in the Australian Open Junior Championships, facing her doubles partner and best friend Alina Korneeva, ultimately losing in three sets.
Following the disappointment in Melbourne, Mirra won her next 13 matches on the ITF Tour. This achievement earned her a main-draw wild card for her WTA tour-level debut in Madrid. Ranked No. 194, she defeated 2021 US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez in the first round, securing her first WTA-tour win. Mirra continued her winning streak with back-to-back victories against top 20 players. In the round of 16, the top player Aryana Sabalenka halted her remarkable run. This made Mirra the youngest player in history to reach the round of 16 in a WTA 1000 tournament. Recognized by the ITF World Tennis Tour as the Player of the Month and nominated as WTA Newcomer of the Year, Mirra has sustained outstanding results throughout the year and is currently ranked 57 at the remarkable age of only 16.
We eagerly anticipate following the journey of our former doubles champion!
