Norway’s Casper Ruud capped off an excellent day for Norwegian tennis with the biggest win of his career.
The hard-hitting No.8 seed topped Denmark’s Holger Rune in the first all-Scandinavian Grand Slam in Roland-Garros history, 6–1, 4–6, 7–6(2), 6–3. Both of them have played in Kungens Kanna before.
The victory made Ruud the first Norwegian to reach a Grand Slam singles semifinal. Ruud’s triumph sets a semifinal with Croatia’s Marin Cilic.
– These are the matches you dream about playing and hopefully even the final, if possible, Ruud said after the game.
Diane Parry got furthest in Women’s Singles in Roland-Garros, by all the players who earlier have played in Drottningens Pris. She got to the third round, where Sloane Stephens was too difficult to beat.
