Sunday’s singles finals offered both drama and top-level tennis, with both the girls’ and boys’ finals played simultaneously in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
In the girls’ final, Latvia’s Darina Matvejeva started strong, taking the first set against Ekaterina Dotsenko. However, Dotsenko showed impressive fighting spirit, turning the match around by winning the second set. This was followed by a thrilling deciding third set, where Ekaterina Dotsenko ultimately emerged victorious, claiming the title at the 2025 Drottningens Pris. This triumph means that Dotsenko has now won both Super Category tournaments — Drottningens Pris and Les Petits As in France — a truly remarkable achievement.
The boys’ final was equally exciting. Akhmadi Makhanov took control early and won the first set. In the second set, he had two match points, but his French opponent Samuel Dakessian fought back and managed to win the set in a nerve-wracking tiebreak. Despite Dakessian’s impressive comeback, Makhanov showed great mental strength and quickly took the lead in the deciding third set. With a solid serve, he secured the victory and claimed the title at the 2025 Kungens Kanna.
We extend our congratulations to Ekaterina Dotsenko and Akhmadi Makhanov on their well-deserved titles and wish them the best of luck in their future careers. A big thank you also goes out to all sponsors, officials, and referees who made this tournament possible.
What a week it’s been — we’re already looking forward to next year’s edition of Kungens Kanna & Drottningens Pris!
